Zhejiang University introduction
Zhejiang University (ZJU) is a national key university under the administration of China Ministry of Education. It was established on the basis of amalgamation of the four former individual universities, namely Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agricultural University and Zhejiang Medical University in September 1998. As a comprehensive university, it covers 11 major disciplines: philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, and management. ZJU offers diverse specialties, 110 for undergraduates, 225 for master candidates (with seven professional master programs in addition, including clinical medicine, business administration, architecture, law, engineering, agricultural extension and public administration),and 138 for doctoral candidates (with one professional doctoral program of clinical medicine in addition). It holds 28 spots of granting master and doctor degree on primary subjects, and has postdoctoral mobile stations for 30 primary subjects. At present, ZJU has 13 national key subjects, 10 national key laboratories, 2 national engineering research centers, 3 national engineering technology research centers, 2 national key research bases of humanity and social science, 8 training bases for nation-class teaching specialists, 3 teaching bases for basic curricula, and 1 educational base for undergraduate culture. After one-century development, ZJU has become a top-ranked university in China and a prestigious world-class high-level academic institution. It is now one of the 100 key universities of "211 Project" that will be constructed with efforts by Chinese government in the 21st century. |
